Allied Veterinary Emergency Hospital is hiring a Veterinary Technician!

 

Position Details

  • Role: Experienced or Licensed Veterinary Technician for ICU and ER roles
  • Status: Full-time
  • Salary: Negotiable and based on experience
  • Schedule: We are a 24-hour emergency facility. Multiple schedule options available, including 10 and 12-hour workdays.

Allied Veterinary Emergency Hospital is a multi-doctor veterinary emergency hospital serving the Big Bend region of North Florida, South Georgia, and parts of Southern Alabama. Our team provides compassionate, high-quality emergency and critical care to pets when they need it most. We are currently seeking experienced ICU and Emergency Veterinary Technicians to join our fast-paced hospital for morning, afternoon, evening, overnight, and weekend shifts.

What Our ICU Veterinary Technicians Do

 

As an ICU Technician, you will provide advanced care and monitoring for critically ill and injured hospitalized patients.  Responsibilities include: 

  • Manage and monitor critically ill and injured inpatients
  • Perform diagnostic sampling, laboratory testing, and imaging
  • Perform venipuncture and catheter placement
  • Assist with surgical preparation and procedures
  • Work with multiple veterinarians (DVMs) to stabilize emergency patients
  • Closely monitor patients and administer treatments as directed
  • Communicate patient status changes to veterinarians promptly
  • Provide daily updates to pet owners on patient progress
  • Perform medical math calculations accurately
  • Supervise veterinary assistants and assist with VA duties as needed

What Our Emergency Veterinary Technicians Do

 

Emergency Technicians play a key role in triaging and stabilizing incoming emergency cases.  Responsibilities include: 

  • Triage and stabilize critical, emergency and urgent care patients
  • Recognize and prioritize true medical emergencies
  • Work with multiple veterinarians to stabilize patients and perform recommended treatments
  • Perform venipuncture and catheter placement
  • Perform medical math calculations
  • Assist the veterinarian in creating and explaining treatment plans and financial estimates
  • Provide clear updates to owners regarding patient status
  • Assist with surgical preparation and procedures
  • Supervise veterinary assistants and assist with VA duties when needed

What Our Overnight Veterinary Technicians Do

 

Overnight technicians work with a smaller team and must be comfortable performing ICU, emergency, and reception responsibilities.

 

What Our Veterinary Technicians Bring

  • Minimum 4 years experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician
  • Licensed technicians and veterinary assistants preferred, but not required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm in emergency situations
  • Solid technical skills including venipuncture, patient monitoring, and medical calculations
